Us VoIP people are always looking for a good deal.

Visible is an MVNO running on the Verizon network (in fact, it's owned by Verizon)
- Basics
- $35/month for both 5G + 4GLTE, unlimited everything, free calling to Canada, Mexico, PR. No taxes, ALL-Inclusive.
- Party Plan: Find ANYONE to join your Party. Separate Billing, no connection to other parties other than email account. Each person added to party reduces bill $5 per month.
Down to $25 per month. $25 per month for TRUELY unlimited. I typically do 50-60GB per month, and no speed throttling.
- FYI is you have a personal Verizon Wireless microcell, it works with Visible.

So, I've been a user for almost a year and pretty much FLAWLESS.

How does it work? You can BYOD. Download the Visible app from App Store/Google Play and go from there. More info available on the visible.com site.

Do me a favor: Use my referral code: NPdDV. When you have an account, give your referral code to others. It saves you even more.

What's the catch? Why would Verizon operate this service in direct competition with their own Verizon Prepaid service?

The price listed is $40 (https://www.visible.com/plan/), not $35 as you state. VZW Prepaid unlimited is $50 after you apply loyalty and auto-pay discounts. I like what you're saying but I want to know what's being excluded for the $10 discount. (I am a current VZW Prepaid customer and have been happy enough with it that I don't want to switch if it will be a detriment in any way.)

... this might be the catch:

Requires 5G-capable device inside 5G coverage area. 5G Ultra Wideband available in parts of select cities. 5G Nationwide available in 2,700+ cities.

So if I am in a 5G area with my 4G/LTE phone I'm not going to get service, it seems. Am I understanding correctly?

Visible is great for unlimited data but for those who can live on 5GB/month can get an even better deal on prepaid. I use it and pay $25/month including 5G service.

I have 6GB/mo. for $30 under a discontinued plan. They have been suggesting I switch to one of the new plans. I did run out of data but only once.

Currently I have AT& Prepaid 15GB included roaming in Canada, US and Mexico at $24/month in a group (that's personally what I use)
Tmobile for business if you have a few lines is 25/month/unlimited everything (which is what I'm using for one of the companies I manage cell for)

There's good ways to drive these costs down these days if you just kinda shop around a little. The main thing people seem to always want is a "Free" phone. But phones aren't free, really . . . just like everything it's simply "included" or not.

With a family plan on Verizon, I'm at $30

I have $30 a month unlimited plans with Verizon, before tax, by having 5 or more lines and automatic monthly payment.

The problem with any Verizon plan is TAXES and FEES. 5 on Verizon unlimited is $150 + tax; 5 unlimited on Visible is $125, period. Plus free Canada, Mexico and PR.

Why did Verizon create Visible? Because they were getting killed by the MVNO market. Why not join 'em rather than lose market share? Visible has no brick-n-mortar -- all virtual support. I've had no issues, but the cost model is great!!

The problem with less than totally unlimited is the cost of extra GB and throttling!!

And what is this about 5G Phones? Visible is BYOB or buy from them. We have Iphone 6S, Iphone XL, Android devices that are all 4G LTE and they work perfectly. 5G is your choice as a consumer -- go ahead an burn your money (unless you live in an urban area and want to download Debian ISO on your phone every day.)

@wardmundy, I PM'd you. Actually, anyone can join my party -- just PM me the email address you want to use. $25/month totally unlimited. Use my referral code: NPdDV . You'll get an invite email.

I call it a "i'm responsible for other people" plan.
If you are referring to Visible, you are wrong. Every member of a party is treated as an individual customer, with completely separate billing. If someone drops out and goes below 4 people in the group, yes, the price goes up. However, my group is 4 and is my family. So you can join me at will or drop out.

I'm never wrong.

And, I was referring to my Verizon plan.

No Catch. Simple Business. They were getting killed by MVNO operators who were undercutting them. They could not lower the price based on the current Verizon Wireless business model, so they created a different business unit that had the right business model. Smart.

Yes, I mis-quoted the starting rate, Bill. But with PartyPay, it is reduced to $25, without any loyalty and auto-pay requirements. I was a Verizon Wireless customer for 30 years (Bell Atlantic Mobile, or whatever it was before). I just got tired of overbillig and endless taxes and fees. Now my bill is totally predictable and cheap.

Visible has been offering service for quite a while now; it predates any real 5G roll-out (and certainly most 5G handset roll-outs). Is the 5G handset/area requirement new?

I've also read that Visible is at or near the top of VZW's "de-prioritize me first" list. Any observations about that?

Top of the bottom list? Hehe.

being owned by Verizon, they can make the priority whatever thay want. But it is pretty far down on the totem pole. Don’t know any Verizon network engineers to verify where they are.

Visible now.
The video limit is 720p according to speedtest app.

It is almost 9pm here though.
