TIPS Cellular.everything

Just a heads up to anyone with a Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G... if you've been disappointed by the performance with Visible, load the latest software update. Ours went from 1.5 Gbit downloads to 80, and the 5G icon appeared for the very first time. Testing was in downtown Jacksonville, FL which has impressive 5G service with all the major carriers.

@wardmundy

can you edit your nerdvittles article and fix the broken links.

to introduce Visible, Verizon’s very own MVNO https://www.visible.com/referral/3lP3PM link not working
we offer a signup link that https://www.visible.com/referral/3lP3PM link not working

your referral links in the first 2 paragraphs are the problem links. Perhaps you can change the actual links to the Join the party here.

also just for informational purposes, you must sign up, create account, and activate service before you can join a Party Plan.

Hey @wardmundy another correction for the article:
Third, you only get the $25/month pricing if we can persuade 3 other like-minded readers to sign up for service. Otherwise, the monthly cost is $40. But we’re not too worried about that once you read this article. Your first month of service is only $25.1 There are no signup fees or long-term contracts of any kind.
This isn't accurate. My first month service was only $5 when using the proper referral link.

@krzykat: Thanks. Fixed. Keeping articles updated is a slippery slope because vendors (especially in the cellphone space) constantly move the goal posts.

Fixed. Thanks. The Visible folks actually changed the referral link after we published the article.
The correct link to sign up is now: https://www.visible.com/get/3lP3PM

Once signed up, you then can Join the Party Plan here: https://bit.ly/3uAf0bl

I don't mind trying to help out where I can. The least I can do is let you know when I am aware of a problem.

And I thought you just sit around playing with your new toys everyday (LOL)

You caught me. I've been playing Audiophile for a few days wrestling with a P.O.S. Crestron system and a YAMAHA RX-V6A receiver. Fun times. :death:

I think the trick to eSim is to not use the SIM card sent to you and then go online to download it yourself.
Well, it appears that to use an eSim requires the phone to be unlocked. Buying a new phone from Visible (which I've done) still comes locked, so eSIM isn't possible at this time - LOL. Guess I'll install the SIM.

Yes the phones have to be unlocked phones, and not all unlocked phones will work either. Some of the "unlocked phones" being sold have only had the sim slot unlocked, not the esim.

That is a lot of work for music on hold on IPBX. I don't think phones have the sound quality yet. LOL

Was wondering what those using this service had experienced with SMS / MMS capabilities ?

Is this a vtext.com supported device or do you have to use some form of MVNO gateway ?

Is this a vtext.com supported device
In fact, you can send email to <cell number>@vtext.com. For all intents and purposes, Visible is Verizon at a lower price. You just can't have a pure data device like a Jetpack on their service. We have no issues with sms/mms.

I will add that I have both a Pixel and a Motorola G on the service with no issues. Since I migrated to Google Messages and Google Phone apps on both phones, they perform flawlessly. I can't speak to iPhones and their compatibility.

Beware: Even if you get a new phone from Visible, Verizon has a terrible reputation for selling crippled phones that only work on their cellular bands and although they "unlock" them, they often won't work on other networks. Sadly, all the major carriers tend to do that. That is why I only buy unlocked phones that are not tied to any carrier after first checking to see if all cellular bands of all carriers will work on that phone. The same model phone may have slightly different model numbers which distinguish it on different carriers.

This site is very helpful:

Never been a better time to Join the Visible Party.

AT&T has improved some things. A while back they bought out two Mexican cell companies (Nextel and Iusacell), then merged them into AT&T Mexico. If you travel between the US and Mexico a lot ,they are treated like you are on the same network no matter which AT&T you have an account with, AT&T US, or AT&T Mexico

In rural areas, AT&T is the only company with worse coverage than T-Mobile. LOL
