Network Engineer
We seek an Accomplished and “Hands-on” Network Engineer with established Management and Collaborative Strength (within IT, Vendor, Outsourcing and Stakeholder communities), capable of providing immediate Technical and Managerial expertise within Support, Planning, and Production while setting direction for a Global Enterprise focused on Managed Services Growth.
Will have Strategic and Tactical responsibilities for CISCO and Force10 (SAN, WAN, LAN, F5, etc.), Voice/Data Network Management, Network Hardware, Network Engineering and Planning/Implementation, functioning as the SME (Subject Matter Expert).
Should have a “Solid” background within Cisco Routers, Switches, BGP, HA configurations with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Common Responsibilities
1. Install all new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
2. Install, configure, maintain network services, equipment and devices.
3. Plans and supports network infrastructure.
4. Documents network problems and resolution for future reference.
5. Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning.
6. Manage, permissions, email, anti-virus, anti-spam.
7. Requires a thorough knowledge of networking.
8. Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed.
9. managing email, anti spam and virus protection;
10. monitoring network usage;
11. suggesting and providing IT solutions to business and management problems;
12. ensuring that all IT equipment complies with industry standards;
13. analyzing and resolving faults, ranging from a major system crash to a forgotten password;
14. undertaking routine preventative measures and implementing, maintaining and monitoring network security, particularly if the network connects to the internet;
15. providing training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence;
16. supervising other network staff;
17. Ensure all Networks are properly documented
18. Ensure all network equipment is properly backed up.
19. working closely with other departments/organizations and collaborating with other IT staff;
20. planning and implementing future IT developments and undertaking project work;
Technical Skills and Requirements for Network Engineer
1. Certifications: MCSE, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, CNE
2. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar.
3. Systems: Windows, Cisco Systems, UNIX, Linux, Force10, Fortinet
4. Networking: Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, Latency, VoIP, QoS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, NHRP, ATM, PPP, MPLS

General Requirements:
o 4 year degree or equivalent experience
Provide engineering direction and implementation for the firms Linux systems inclusive of:
• System performance tuning
• Kernel configuration and memory management
• Development and implementation of security polices in coordination w/ Security officer
• System hardening for DMZ and like implementations
• Establish consistency of server configuration and build process
• Benchmark server and storage systems
• Administration of SNMP based monitoring system
• Strong troubleshooting skills in a high pressure environment working with network, security and development teams
Experience:
• 5+ years proven experience in administration of Linux
Expert Knowledge in the following:
• Red Hat Enterprise / CentOS
• o VMWare ESX 3.5 and/or 4
• o SAN Technologies
• o DNS
• o Networking Technologies
Advanced Knowledge in the following:
o Apache & PHP
o MySQL
o Shell and Perl scripting
o Linux clustering
o Microsoft Windows
