Hello, all. I am currently using trixbox CE and am contemplating moving over to PiaF. I currently have 3 Cisco 7960Gs running on my trixbox (2 on SIP and am trying to get the third working with chan_sccp). I have been unsuccessful with trixbox so I figured I'd try PiaF since I would be starting from scratch. So far I have done the following:

1) Installed PiaF on a VM.
2) Loaded the chan_sccp-b driver
3) Made sure chan_sccp.so is in /etc/asterisk/modules
4) Edited modules.conf to unload chan_skinny and load chan_sccp instead.
5) Edited sccp.conf to include the config for my device and line
6) Added an extension in FreePBX with SCCP/6000 as my dialstring
7) Set t*f*t*p options in my DHCP to poing to PiaF
8) Added SEP<mac>.cnf.xml to my tftpboot folder
9) Rebooted the 7960

After rebooting the phone is cycling through "Opening 10.0.0.1" (my gateway) and "Opening 10.0.0.118" (my PiaF box).

Any help is greatly appreciated as I'm not sure where to go from here.

Thanks!

Do you have skinny firmware files in the tftpboot folder? I had to put the firmware files in there in order for this to work.

Yes, I have the firmware in the tftpboot folder as well as the SEP<mac>.cnf.xml and an assortment of other files that I copied over from my trixbox.

Would you be willing to zip the contents of your tftpboot (minus any passwords and firmware files) so I can compare?

Thanks!

I'm starting to get frustrated with this and need it working. Like I said, I'm willing to pay someone to show me how to do this.

Thanks!

I don't have any experience with that phone, but I have worked with Linksys in the past and they may be similar. You need both the PSN and MAC files. I had the SPA942 and SPA962 and each had two files. Ex. the SPA962 had the spa962.cfg file and the <mac>.cfg file. It may be entirely unrelated, but I didn't see you mentioned your PSN file so I thought I'd throw it in there.

I know how frustrating this stuff gets sometimes. I finally got my development box ready for production testing and while ghosting it on Monday I had a power spike that killed the MB and the HDD at the same time. I'll be in the same boat as you soon as I start to rebuild.

I hope you get your answer soon, though. It would be nice if these forums were a simple Post-Answer, but we're all in the same boat here.

Thanks for the help, Stewart. However, nothing I have read refers to PSN files so I have no idea where to start with this.

it took me months to get my cisco 7960's working the way i wanted using sip ... cannot imagine using sccp.

I had this link saved in my favorites just in case i ever wanted to try sccp. Hope it helps for you to do a checklist against your setup.

Thanks. That is one of the guides I've used but still have been unsuccessful.

When I get this working I will create a definitive guide with troubleshooting examples for those who wish to follow the SCCP route.

Why do want to torture yourself ?

I got a ping on the chan-sccp list and thought I'd respond here.

My advise is to stick with SIP. I got this working for a customer a while back and it took some time and effort and was not worth the trouble. That, and having Aastra, Polycom and Snom phones around has shown me added functionality that is easy to come by that I am never going to get with Cisco phones on Asterisk...ever.

ACD Login/Logout, HD codecs, Firmware Upgrades, etc... are all in reach with the other majors.

Cisco phones are cool and all, but Cisco really does not support the use of their gear on Asterisk.

Asterisk/SIP/79XX anything is tough as it is and for the trouble and time you could get 3 Aastra 6757i's and get all sorts of Asterisk integration goodness.

I have a working set of SIP Firmware for 7940/60, 7941/61 and 7975's that I maintain for the occasional gig that requires them, but I won't take a chan_sccp gig anymore.

My 2 cents.

One issue is that US Government departments seem fixated on using Cisco gear. I think it is the old "you never got fired for buying IBM" story substituting IBM for Cisco.

Consequence is that we kind of have to persevere with Cisco phones, despite the fact that almost anything else you have mentioned, in an Asterisk environment, does the job quicker, cheaper and more effectively than Cisco.

I would suspect to get this working you need to turn off iptables (for now).

Also, I'm surprised that all the advice (and the big config guide I wrote) in the mother of all SCCP threads here isn't helpful?

I was able to get my phone to register with asterisk. I was missing an autologin line in the sccp.conf file.

Now I am unable to dial from this phone. Maybe this is a dialplan issue now? When I dial a number this is what is show on my console while running asterisk -r:
