SOLVED Clearly Anywhere for Incredible PBX 2020 PUBLIC

The public version of IPBX 2020 doesn't allow for easy access to the UCP for users. Is there a way for an ADMIN to get the QR codes for auto-provisioning and email it out?

Screenshots should work fine.

I thought this was supposed to be a fairly automatic install thanks to the FreePBX module. Under what circumstances would that be expected? Need for a multi-step tutorial is disappointing.

Install & configure a module, whitelist a port, install the app, and insert credentials. Aside from that, we think a company's phone bill is probably worth the effort to deploy a secure PBX platform with the first (and only) softphone that doesn't compromise your SIP credentials. If you have a better (and less disappointing) solution for $10/year, we're always listening.

I only paid a one-time $10 for Acrobits Groundwire with the default skin. I never played around with the provisioning but now that I see it in action, I might :)

Sale completed, how long do I need to wait for the Token?
The email system of the Token was stuck, or something. Worked with support and they manually emailed it to me, the auto system didn't even appear to be hitting my server. But my Anywhere extension is up and running.

1st thing I noticed, it has (had) the same issue as Groundwire. When the phone is locked, an inbound call wouldn't come through. I enabled Smart Lock so my phone is always unlocked when my Fitbit is nearby, so the phone is essentially always unlocked (I never tried this with Groundwire). Anyway, it appears to be working as advertised, minus this one issue, which is probably more of an Android issue then anything else.
Other thing I noticed, I can't set separate codec's for WIFI vs cell data, like I can in Groundwire. Something to add in the feature roadmap I guess.

I noticed that too, and reached out to tech support. Got this answer:

"When the app is opened it registers direct to your pbx. The minute you close the app out navigate to a different app on your phone android kills the direct registration from the app. This is out of our control.

"How we combat this is we use push notifications and the push servers also register to your PBX for each extension and they take the inbound call and send a push notification to your phone for a inbound call and you asked the call."

Think there was a typo or two in there but I got the gist. I can receive calls when my phone is locked. Bigger issue is when I'm not behind a whitelisted IP, using portknocking for now.

Correct, that is the way push applications work. My point is, when the phone is locked and an inbound call comes in, it doesn't wake up the phone and unlock it, the app/phone sends a reject and the call goes off to voicemail.
Using Smart Lock is a workaround for me at least.

On all my test androids for sure the call comes through and can be answered while the phone is locked. What device and version of android are you using. My guess is it’s something that your android manufacture has added as stock android is clear that push servers can be used to send calls and you can answer it without unlocking the phone.

@tbrummell: We're not seeing this on new Samsung Galaxy Note 20 or Google Pixel phones or iPhones. Call tech support and let them take a look.

The codec selection is handled automatically based on what codecs you have enabled in sip settings and any over rides you have set at your extension level. It reads those settings and applies them.

Go for it. Reinventing the wheel is the sincerest form of flattery. Just ask Sangoma. And add FreePBX SMS support and UCP integration while you're at it.

FYI: Provisioning is not included in your "one-time $10" payment to Acrobits. Neither is your own set of SIPIS servers for Push Notification management. Nor is management of UCP credentials so you don't force users to compromise their SIP secrets. And you'll want to include free tech support moving forward. That should keep you busy with your new softphone offering.

Yeah but really that should be "for $20/year" since that is the actual price. $10/year is a special until Oct 31st 2020.

If you sign up before Halloween, $10/year is your actual price for as long as you continue to renew your annual license, and it includes free software updates.

Right, that's what I said. Well not about the part about free software updates because well you're paying $10/year (or $20) so what would you be paying for in the license if updates weren't included?

[W]hat would you be paying for in the license if updates weren't included?

You'd be paying to renew the annual license for the software installed on your PBX. Has nothing to do with updates.

Right and what happens with that license for the software on the PBX, per user, is lapsed and not renewed? Do they still get free updates?

@Samot: This isn't that hard. If you don't renew the annual license(s), the Clearly Anywhere softphones connected to your PBX stop working. You can update the FreePBX module until the cows come home, but the softphones won't connect successfully. That's how annual software licenses work.
