I'm using a Yealink T46G phone and I love it. Unfortunately, it only allows me to conference one additional caller into the conversation (i.e. while speaking to A I can hit the conference button and bring in B and then talk/drop one/kill call). While I have A and B on the phone, the conference button is no longer available (confirmed with Yealink forums).

Can someone explain to the idiot (me) how to set up and use a conference room correctly? I'm the sole user on this system, so I don't need to worry about other PIAF system users barging into my conference.

Thanks for the mini-tutorial; I just don't 'get it' from my google searches.

This may not be technically correct, but I think of the conference room system as a virtual extension where you can send many different callers and they can all speak with each other. So you want to place a call and then transfer the caller into the conference call extension. You can do this for several callers. You can also set your system up to allow a caller to call into a number and enter the conference extension so they can be transferred into it so that you don't have to initiate all of the individual connections.

The default conference call extension is 2663 (the letters CONF), but I would suggest changing it to something else if you expose your conference room extension to outside callers. I would also suggest using a relatively long password in that case too.

As you noted in your post, you can conference two callers together simply using the buttons on the phone vs transfering the calls to the conference call extension. This is an easier method IMHO, but has the two caller limitation. When you want to have more than two callers, then you will need to use the conference call system.
