Current status of Purple 1.8.x ??

Ok, I know this is considered the most un-stable of all the PIAF releases and not for production, etc. etc. But, I also see a lot of people saying for a developmental version it is quite stable and usable. What, if any, features are still "broke" in the Purple branch? In the past I remember seeing posts about faxing, moh, and maybe voicemail issues? Have these all been resolved in the current 1.8.x release? I guess my main concerns are inbound faxing, moh during park, dundi, and dahdi trunks. I do not really care if Google Voice or Skype or similar bells and whistles work yet, but I do need the basics.

Again, I know this is the ol' e-x-p-e-r-i-m-e-n-t-a-l version, and I am currently on the most stable 1.4.x release therefore the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" applies, but still... I wanna play! At the same time, if I "know" some of my required features will not work, I do not want to waste time changing and then changing back.

This month Digium moves 1.4/1.6 asterisk to security fix status only and this time next year both will be retired. So I guess purple will become the defacto standard when this happens.

Seems stable but I have to tinker with our office pbx, which runs 1.8.x, every so often to keep it running smoothly. There have been things like CDR stops working to dahdi/dundi problems that have occurred. Not to mention 1.8.3.2 IAX to IAX trunk problems with like systems.....

Looks like we all will have to switch over to 1.8 soon. I just retired my last 1.2 system! Upgraded the client to 1.4 silver <yes I am conservative>.

I have a couple of 1.8 commercial systems out there <the client insisted on them> and they require more of my attention for "strange things" than the others. This is one of the reasons I installed purple on our office pbx <was running gold> I want to see day to day use of it.

Asterisk 1.8.4 should be out soon and we may have to lift the experimental moniker although it seems to be "almost" ready for prime time.

I suppose the other colors will have to be relegated to "classic" status.
