Just moved to the US and signing up with Comcast, 25mbps+ internet, so thought probably its time to upgrade my trusty WRT-54GS.
Nerdvittles recommends the D-link 4500; on their site, it states "With Xtreme N Duo technology your router also has the power of dualband (2.4 or 5GHz)"
I'm not sure if the or means its not quite a true n router, or only one of the 2 bands is available at a time?
Also, does it support QoS - the Wrt54 with Tomato firmware has been rock solid at prioritising VoIP over other stuff;
lastly, newer Linksys/Cisco routers have a "guest" hotspot feature; basically along with your main Wifi SSID, you also get a guest SSID that shows up on wireless survey. The guess network is not secured and anyone can conenct to it ,and on trying to go to the internet, it brings up an authentication page. You can have a simpler key to allow guests to log in, guests can only access the internet, don't have access to any shared folders etc.. .quite a neat feature, does the DGL-4500 have it?
Thanks.
