so my own internal (PIAF) system seems to be just happy.

but often when I call out and hit somebody else's VOIP system, i have a lot of trouble routing thru their IVRs or dialing extensions, etc.

IF I press #'s **VERY** **VERY** **SLOWLY**, it will work.. about 30% of the time...

My theory is that the min tone time for DTMF tones is set wrong, on my internal PIAF box..

Anybody have an idea on this? If so, where is that setting, and what would it be set to?

Check you DTMF mode in extensions
Check you phone - the Mitel I used to use had to be set (can't remember details).
Google may be your friend here depending upon the handset in use.

I've played around this quite a bit as some systems I have designed rely heavily on dtmf. From my experience, different providers give very different results. I would try a different provider before I troubleshoot my system too far. I've had good luck with voip.ms for the most part.

* is always a problem due to how asterisk handles it. It is always delayed.

I do a lot of DISA and just switched to CC for inbound. I noticed the same problem. Other IVRs have a very hard time picking up my DTMF now. Makes it very hard to enter in work order numbers.
