Explanation about IAX Peers

Can anyone tell me why some providers show as unmetered and some don't? What is the difference?

In your trunk setup for the unmonitored ones, put the line:

qualify=yes

That should do it.

That should do what? I dont have any problems... I was simply looking for an explanation as to why some are different... but thanks.

It will more or less 'ping' the Host and note time. Useful if you are having echo problems or can't connect due to delays. It might keep some host connections alive if needed. Other than that, it's a curiosity thing

Look for differences in your definitions for these... The most notable one, will be that the monitered ones, should include a "qualify=yes" statement

qualify can be yes, no or a number where the number is the number of milliseconds between checks. (the default is 2 seconds) This is useful in keeping a UDP dialog open, when there is NAT translation between you and "the world". The polling action, forces the UDP port binding on the wan side of your router/nat/firewall to remain active...

This all works slightly differently between SIP and IAX2 - IAX2 has extra parameters available that work differently based on whether you can or can't connect.
