extension rings at random with pulsating dialtone

hey guys -- suddenly tonight my phones attached to a pap2na will randomly start ringing, pick it up, and nothing but dial tone. What's more, is that when I pick up the phone, I get a 10-pulsed dial tone and then it calms down and it's the regular dial tone.... any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

While I don't have this on my PAP2NA, I suspect that you have a new voicemail. The "stutter" dial-tone is characteristic of "Message Waiting Indicator" - and there's an option on the PAP2NA that i remember from my first setup that said "set this to avoid having the phone ring hourly to notify you of new voicemails"

thanks! While I'm unable to find said option in my pap2 settings, I did clear out my voicemails and I'm getting a normal dialtone and no more "phone calls" in the middle of the night.

It's called ring splash in most firmware. Look under Ring Settings for User1 and User2. Just set all of them to 0.
