follow me and CID to external phone

I know this may not be the issue of pbxinaflash. But I would like to see if anyone has some solution to it.
If I put an external cell phone into the follow me, the caller calls my pbx and my pbx dial my cell phone through follow me, my cell phone will show my pbx cid, not the caller cid. Anybody has any solution to that? I know I left blank on the outbound caller id field in my trunk setup.

There are two issues, first your ITSP must allow you to set the CallerID. You cant change callerID on most PSTN connections. This works fine with vitelity for instance. You need to have the correct setting in your trunk settings:

trustrpid=yes
sendrpid=yes

Need to be in the trunk. At least that what works for me.

I added the two settings into my viatalk trunk and there is no change. I know this is a freepbx/asterisk issues reported.

AFAIK, ViaTalk does not allow you to set your own CID. You can only set the CID to DIDs you have registered through ViaTalk.

I still do not understand the difficulties of getting it setup right. The follow me should act like a forward function. It should forward the caller's CID information to the destination instead of showing the middleman's identity. Why don't asterisk implement a forward calls with correct information?

What you describe is exactly how the followme function in FreePBX works. The difficulty is that the provider you're using to send the outbound portion of the call removes any CID information that Asterisk sends and replaces it with the DID you purchased from them. As stated above by phinphan, this is a provider issue, not an Asterisk issue.

To resolve this, you can set your default outbound trunk to use a provider that will pass the CID information that Asterisk sends.
