I've tried doing a search, but can't seem to find a way to allow users to access the recordings page without giving them the Maint password, which I really don't to do.

Is there a way to do this?

OK thanks for that. I hadn't come across that thread yet. But I am curious, is there a way to specify another account to use other than maint? I don't mind people having to use a password to access the portal then putting in their extension information, would just like it to be something other than maint.

If you follow the link above you won't have to put in a password for the user portal. They will just log in with their extension and VM password.

Understood. But I would like to have the second layer of security without using the Maint account.

So what you are saying is you want a shared password that everyone uses to access the user portal and then they log into their individual extensions? If so first I would say why? Any username password shared by many people is not secure anyway. Anyhow if you want that then create a simple .htaccess for Apache to prompt for a username password.

Exactly.

Mainly because I want to open it up to external access for people to use outside of the firewall. It would be easy enough to require people to use complex passwords to get their voicemail and remove the first layer of security, however they also need to be able to access VM from their phones directly and it can be next to impossible for them to use complex passwords from a phone key pad.

I recommend emailing users their voicemail. Just a check box. No hacking required. They seem to like it.

That is being done too. Just trying to give them options. Many of them also like to go to the web page to manage more than one message at a time.
