Howdy,
I am trying to follow the instructions at: http://nerdvittles.com/?p=712
I encountered a snag. I got my second gmail account, and tried to get a google voice number for it. All 3 local area codes are out of phone numbers. So, I used the google voice phone number on my primary gmail account. I read that this is somewhat unreliable, but I am stuck until a new phone number is available. When that happens, I wonder what I will need to do. Do I need to do a fresh install of everything again?, I am hoping there is some simpler configuration I can do and someone will post it here. I suspect from what I read that I will not be the only person encountering this problem.

I know I could probably get a number is some remote area code, but I want my friends and family to call me and they do not all have cell phones with free long distance.
Thanks to Ward for all the good work. The install is not quite through yet, but it has gone quite smoothly and I can see there is a lot of effort invested.
Good day,
Ralph

Changing the credentials for piaf to use a different google voice account is very easy.

All you have to do is change a line in extensions_custom.conf and make the account info changes in jabber.conf

You also need to make several changes in FreePBX to keep it in sync...

1. Add a new Custom Destination patterned on the existing one. Just use your new accountname if you have a new one.

2. Modify your existing Inbound Route: gvoice-username

a. Update the DID Number to reflect the new acctname

b. Update the CallerID number to reflect the new number

c. Update the Custom Destination to the one you set up in Step #1

3. Modify your existing Trunk: gvoice-username

a. Update the trunk name to your new acctname

b. Update the custom dial string to your new acctname

Good Afternoon Ward!
Regarding Custom Destinations....
Do we still need the Custom GV-Park that is setup during the incrediblepbx18.x installer script?
I've read your article http://nerdvittles.com/?p=710
"Asterisk 1.8 now provides transparent call bridging so the days of jumping in and out of the Asterisk Parking Lot to complete an outbound call are over."
Using latest PIAF Purple and only the incrediblepbx18.x installer script, I have been able to config two Google Voice accounts with zero problems. On the third and + accounts, the calls are not "transparently bridged," and instead they get a ringback that connects the call. I wonder if it has to do with the Custom GV-Park? I haven't set any destinations to the Custom GV-Park in case you were wondering ;)
[OT] When I check the asterisk logfiles through Freepbx, (the last 500 by default) I constantly see error messages about the sipgate and vitality trunks failing to register. I imagine it is because I am using only Google Voice for the moment.
My question is: Is it safe to disable these trunks until I am ready to equip them? For that matter, is it safe to disable all other trunks, inbound routes, and outbound routes that are not Google Voice?
What about the gv-ringback Inbound Route that comes configured with the incredipbx18.x installer? Is that still necessary for Asterisk 1.8+?
I apologize for the 20 questions - just trying to make sense of this awesome software :)

I encountered a snag. I got my second gmail account, and tried to get a google voice number for it. All 3 local area codes are out of phone numbers.

I have about 10 Google Voice accounts - all I really need is 5, {which I have yet to be successful in implementing via PIAF! :banghead:}

My gv accounts are spread all over - chances are I have an area code you might need :)

PM me for details~

Thank you

Thank you to ghurty and wardmundy for the steps to change the account. And to eCase, who amazingly had a spare google voice number in my area. I setup the new number and placed outgoing and incoming calls. This is pretty neat and works better than I expected. I tried Google Voice back when you had to use Sipgate or similar as an intermediate step. The phone calls sounded fine back then, but many calls did not get through. I am not blaming Sipgate or Google. They are both generously offering free services, and I don't know where the breakdown was.

This new setup seems more solid. Call setup seems a mite slow, but I can live with it for free calls and the features this setup has. I did the IncrediblePBX setup on a VM, and I'll move that VM to my laptop after some more testing.
