I've been searching looking for some glimmer of hope Asterisk might come up with a replacement for the res_xmpp / res_motif connectors but haven't found anything. Figured if Bill Simon (aka Simonics GV gateway) had figured it out, someone in the Asterisk community would have as well. Am I dreaming there is a white knight out there?

I had a brief chat with a developer on the Asterisk project who participates in the dslreports forum. He confirmed with me that the required updates in the SIP stack were not trivial.

Truly waiting for the last minute then. Oy. Hope that doesn't make for a huge day 1 influx and cause problems with signups, etc.

Let us know if you'd consider some early signups @billsimon.
I'd rather have it and not need it then need it and can't get it.

I plan to convert existing customers before allowing sign-ups again. The reason is that we have not load-tested the new system yet. The beta currently running has a small fraction of users. Once the main gateways are converted we will need to see if there are any load-related issues to address. Google's announcement gave us some time but the changes are obviously not trivial and I expect problems.

If you still want to sign up then PM me your GMail ID and I'll enable you to sign up. It's your money.
