Hello Group -

I was tickled yesterday when my sister was able to connect her softphone in Lebanon to my PIAF server in NC, the call quality was amazing. Thanks in par to a solid server package:D

Here's where I need a little help understanding something when she brought her phone online.

I see her in the peer connection, but then she goes unreachable. However, she can call my extension or any external number, but I can't call her. I get the "extension is not available now" message.

I do know she's on a NAT'd router and her service provider use proxy/caching.

Any help understand why things work in this fashion, and how can I call her extension when it shows unreachable.

Thank you all,

Nabil

Simplest soulution:

Have her use the IAX protocal in her softphone or get software that supports IAX - i port, and she does not need to modify her nat all all to use it.

Any recommendation on a IAX softphone?

Thanks,

I use Zoiper on my MacBook. The free version let's you set up 2 accounts.

I needed to open UDP port 4569 to get through the firewall when calling as a remote phone.

I downloaded the free version and installed on Vista laptop, but I get screeching audio only. Does not support Vista?
