SUGGESTIONS Hi Everybody - Newbie Here - Incredible PBX 13-12.3 RSP 2

Hi Everybody,

This is not a cry for help, I just wanted to reach out to the PIAF community to introduce myself and say hi. I am a newbie with PBX but not with the Raspberry Pi. In an effort to expand my skills with the RSP I stumbled onto Free PBX, then onto Incredible PBX a couple weeks ago. This is all new territory for me but I am having much fun and it is very exciting. I wish I ran into this a few years ago.

What I have accomplished so far:

1. Created the image: Incredible PBX 13-12.3 RSP 2 to a 32 gb sd
2. Opened a new Google Voice account just for testing
3. Started an account with simonics.com for the GV Gateway as per instructions from Ward Mundy I stumbled upon somewhere in my reading.
4. Yayyy! Assigned extension 701 to my X-Lite soft phone and am now placing and receiving calls on the soft phone with my Google Voice number.

Placing calls was easy to figure out. Trying to figure out how to receive calls was driving me crazy but just reading and testing things out finally got it to work. I am sure my settings are not secure, I guess security will be my next steps but was thrilled to death I was placing and receiving calls on my GV account via Raspberry Pi and soft phone. Occasionally I get a message while making a call to my GV number that 701 is not available but only on occasion and I am sure will figure that one out sooner or later. I know I could have used the Google Voice Motif to place calls as well, and I did do that with the first Free PBX image I wrote to my card.

Anyways, I hope to one day be an active member of this community and be able to know what the heck I am reading and writing about because this is a lot of stuff to learn. Besides reading everything I can and watching YouTube videos I just started reading Asterisk - The Definitive Guide.

There is so much documentation and threads out there I am always wondering if I am reading the right ones. Can anyone recommend what I should be reading the most of for Incredible PBX 13-12.3 RSP 2 to get me on the right track? Please feel free to let me know.

WELCOME!! http://nerdvittles.com/?p=14787 is the latest and greatest. Firewall whitelist is preconfigured. Google Voice uses OAUTH in this release so be sure to read the tutorial if you decide to set up GV number on your machine directly as it uses a different password scheme. Good luck. WOW!!! Thanks a million once again. This just keeps getting better and better all the time. I read http://nerdvittles.com/?p=14787 extremely carefully this time around. The way I did it before I read that worked but not as good or flexible and was definitely much more tedious. The link you directed me to was so much more streamline and worked so much better and easier.

Fortunately, I always maintain a backup base image of the original Incredible PBX set up so I don't have to start from scratch each time. So this time, I reverted back to that base image and did it again using the process as described in the link. Then I just went to the Inbound Routes and set the Default to Extension 701 so now the inbound calls go straight to Soft Phone and of course outbound calling works perfect. I also went ahead and added the Fax as described in your instructions. Finally I created a new backup image so I am covered if I screw something up messing around tomorrow. Thanks again for all this magic.
