Hi.
My provider says they provide service with the G711, G729, T38 codecs. Since we have not purchased any 729 codecs for now we are working with pure g711 for voice and it works well (its a private physical cable from our office to the provider's office so bandwidth is not an issue).
We haven't been able to solve the FAX issue though. We have a hardware old style fax machine connected to PiaF through a sangoma card. We want to be able to send and receive from this machine, but it currently is very unreliable.
What is the correct way to manage this? I understand T38 is for faxing, but if I have an external fax machine what would the setup be? Would the digium free fax license work here (not the legal aspect, the technical aspect...if we need to buy a license once we get it running we will)? if yes, what config steps should be taken to get PiaF to detect its a fax machine coming in through an analog card and to route it using T38?
Or are there other options?
thanks,
-gk
