Hi,
I have been a great fan of Ward Mundy. I have been following his articles.
I have aah 2.7 with AMP and I have been using it for about 2 years now.
I want to migrate to PBX in a flash.
Is there a way to do that?
I will really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Hi

The easiest way of doing this is to upgrade to Version 2.4 latest version of FreePBX. You can then take a backup.

Do the install of PiaF, and then the restore should go back into PiaF, provided that you have upgraded freePBX to 2.4 as well.

I would practice on Vmware first.

I have tried doing that. I upgraded the AAH 2.7 AMP to Freepbx. Then I took the backup of the system.
Then on other machine I installed. PBXIAF. then using webmin, I uploaded the backed up file to the correct location on the PBAIAF machine.
Then I tried to restore using the web interface, it did not work.
Is there any other way?

Before you copy your tarball back to your new machine, create a backup through FreePBX on it and call the backup the same thing you called your original backup. Then copy the tarball to the new folder created on the new server and attempt a restore from FreePBX

However, the aah 2.7 has older version of asterisk and pbxiaf has the lates. How will this work?

One of the marvels of FreePBX is that it works happily with all versions of Asterisk, so this should not be a problem.

Not a snowball's chance this will work. Get out pencil and paper and write down all the 2.7 stuff in AMP or, if you're using a new machine for the new build, you can cut and paste by browsing AMP on the oldie and FreePBX in the new box.

Hi Ward,
Do you mean all the conf files?
Do I overwrite the pbxiaf conf files with aah 2.7 conf files?

No. I meant you should cut-and-paste FreePBX trunk and routing info from your old system into your new PBX in a Flash system. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes but what about all the extensions, Do I have to recreate all the extensions, Ring groups, etc once again?
What about Users voicemails messages in the old system?

Steps to upgrade.

1. Write down your config.

2. Follow the upgrade path outlined to you previously

3. If that fails, start typing in all your ring groups, extensions etc manually

If you are afraid of losing anything, then leave it as it is.
