How to upgrade to Orgasmatron?

Hello Everyone,

It's a petty that there is no specific section dedicated to News/Updates when new version of Piaf is out. I have been searching for way to upgrade to the uni UI or to Orgasmatron but I have had no luck. I checked the freepbx modules and they are all updated. Can some please post as to how to upgrade to the latest Piaf from an older version?

After 1.1, you can keep your system up to date with update-source. Unfortunately, the Orgasmatron builds are hardware-dependent so there is no easy upgrade. You can install most of the functionality from this build with the Nerd Vittles scripts, each of which takes about 15 seconds to install. There are some additional add-ons at pbxinaflash.org. Finally, you can browse through the add-ons provided on this forum at the following link.

Thanks for the reply Ward. Can you please detail what you mean by Orgasmatron build is hardware-dependent? I mean except for the new User Interface what else is there that requires a full system wipe out and .iso download?

Would this be the way Piaf will release major updates from now on? Not possible to upgrade?

I don't mean to be harsh but just trying to absorb the technicalities.

Hi

Lets see if I can clarify for you.

The standard ISO download installs the PBX, and you have a basic box with no extra bits, such as Wards scripts, because the scripts are not required in every case, so if you want them, you can add them.

What Ward has done has put in some effort into installing all the Nerdvittles scripts, and other extras all on one box, and then using Mondo back up, has created an ISO that will transfer a copy of Ward's original box, which he has created, with all the configs, and clone it onto your box.

Thus because the Wards system has been compiled with certain hardware, that Mondo restore will only restore back to another box with identical hardware.

So you can only use Ward's Orgasmatron ISO if you have hardware to support it.

You can still get to the same place by doing a standard PiaF installation, then installing the scripts one by one. The Orgasmatron could be seen as a compilation of all the best Nerdvittles scripts.
