Ok, I think I am ready to try this. :) I have a Spa 3102 and 3 or 4 PAP2's. I also have a google voice account and a regular phone line. I of course would like this to be secure. I have OpenVPN on my router configured to where I will appear to be on my local lan when I am connected. So I can administer the pbx remotely as if I am on the lan. I probably only need 4 extensions. Questions:

1. What hardware requirements do I need?
2. What advice/tips can you guys offer to setting this up?

Thanks!

Hardware: Any old P4 or newer pc will handle that requirement. Or, get wild and crazy and install on an embedded system. Probably best to stick with PC hardware for now, then move embedded at a later date once you are comfortable.

Advice? Take it slow, learn as you go. Don't get too frustrated, be patient. Ask clear, concise questions when you are stuck. Provide as much detail as possible.

When setting up "Asterisk SIP Settings" in FreePBX (or sip_nat.conf in the config files) be sure to specify both subnets for each side of the VPN. Unless you are running in Bridge mode, then you have one big ass subnet and only need to specify one.
Download the ISO and give it a shot.

Thanks for the response. Yes I am running in bridge mode. Do you think running Incredible PBX would be too much?

No, not at all. Incredible gives you all of the cool stuff. :)

What I do is install PIAF, then Incredible, then remove the 15 preconfigured extensions and start programming my own number scheme (I don't like the number range it uses by default).
If you do use Incredible, install it right after getting your base install running. Don't program anything in the base install as Incredible over writes a lot of the extensions and what not (found this out the hard way myself).

^ THAT! :) I use the Bulk Extensions module for that. I keep a template handy.

Also,

^ THAT too. Any changes that you make before installing Incredible will be wiped out.
