incred pbx sendmail and postfix

after fumbling with sendmail for hours not sending mail, I found some info on the forums about using postfix. well turns out postfix is doing similar so my thoughts are how to regress back to sendmail and deinstall postfix?

i'm attempting to use an smtp host outside my ISP that requires SMTP AUTH. My ISP also requires SMTP AUTH. So either way I've looked and found the Gmail stuff but not interested, at this time, with Gmail but thought I got everything. Obviously, not!

Any ideas and thoughts welcome.

I went the postfix/gmail route and that fixed everything for me. I could never get sendmail working through 3 builds.

I got sendmail back in but it seems per Wards info the first makemap just sits there and does nothing and never ends.

makemap -r hash generictables.db < genericstable

Is the above correct? HOw do you tell makemap to exit?
