I have an in-service iPBX installed three years ago, with version 13-12L on local hardware. Obviously, this system is seriously out of date, and impossible to maintain at this time. Fortunately, it continues to be working satisfactorily. Thanks, @wardmundy and all for a seriously robust VoIP PBX! I am hoping to get "ahead" of possible hardware or configuration failure of the existing on-site 13-12L box.

The intention is to build the iPBX on a VirtualBox iPBX2020, and move the configured iPBX2020 into the cloud and then move the client to the new system when it's properly configured.

The 13-12L system is a "Lite" version: limited bells and no whistles! The iPBX2020 .OVA comes with all conceivable bells and lots of whistles!

Is it possible to safely slim this system down so that I can, for example configure extension 223, which is assigned to AsteriDex? I've disabled and uninstalled AsteriDex, but calling x223 continues to launch the AsteriDex lady asking for the "code". X223 is a required extension number for my client.

So, what are my options? Even a default installation of iPBX2020 using the installation script includes the bells and whistles. Are there "simple" edits that can be made to slim down the iPBX configuration?

I found the solution to the extension 222/223 issue: https://www.voip-info.org/forum/threads/222-223-call-extensions.12272/ from February 2012! Applying the "fix" by editing the odbc.conf file resolved the issue of adding these extension numbers to the iPBX2020 configuration.

Guess I just hadn't done enough "search" but it would be nice to have a "lean" configuration to which the "enchilada" could be added.

@geopeterwc: Thanks for the feedback. We discontinued the LEAN approach because about two people used it. But we got numerous complaints that the trunks had disappeared or the extensions are gone, etc, etc. Enchiladas apparently aren't for everyone, but the number of reading-impaired users far outnumbered the folks really wanting a LEAN version.

I think its easier to have everything, and strip out what you don't need/want, than it is to add all the additional pieces that many do want. Also, most of the extra stuff, if not desired, just doesn't hurt to have it there doing nothing.

@krzykat I do recall that there were recent discussion of the "LEAN" vs. "Whole Enchilada" discussions, but I had hoped that there would a guide to preferable procedures to remove the extras. And, so I've been doing exactly that: removing the extra stuff. But it was the Asteridex bit that had me stumped. Until I found the key to resolving the issue (edit odbc.conf) I had been reluctant to move forward with updating the iPBX for my client. I like the security of the IncrediblePBX most of all.

@wardmundy and everyone who's contributed to make IncrediblePBX truly INCREDIBLE deserve a hearty handshake (wait, we don't do that any more) for an incredible product.

I guess I'm one of the two! Installed many "Lean machines"
Put off upgrading them 'cause they did what was needed
