Is it possible?

I'd like to add fax capabilities to my new Green machine, but I'm not sure I want all the bells and whistles that come with an IncrediblePBX install.

Failing that, is it possible to selectively install only the parts of IncrediblePBX11 necessary for IncredibleFax11 to install?

Yes, it is possible if I recall correctly. You just can't ever install Incredible PBX subsequently on that same PBX without wiping everything out. Instructions are on NerdVittles (NerdVittles.com) somewhere. Perhaps a quick search there should give you the specific information.

Ross - Thanks. I actually poked around NV and used Google to do a site search and couldn't find a stand alone option.

It looks like IncrediblePBX drops a shell script in /root that allows IncredibleFAX to be installed while it's running.

From here...

Incredible Fax 11 Installation. If you want the added convenience of having your Incredible PBX double as a free fax machine, run /root/incrediblefax11.sh after the Incredible PBX 4 install completes.

Looks like I might be stuck. No biggie, I don't need it but I guess it can't hurt to have... right? :D

Thanks! I'm remote right now but will give this a shot once I'm local again.

The question is: Why don't you want the bells and whistles?

Remember, if you skip IncrediblePBX and go straight to IncredibleFax, you can't go back and install IPBX later --so why not just go ahead and install it now to avoid remorse later? If you don't "need" some of the bells and whistles just don't use them or deactivate them for the time being. You never know down the road when you might need something or want to experiment with it. (Not that I speak from experience...*cough*)

Problem with Incredible PBX is that you can't install it after you configure stuff without causing problems. My guess is that OP has already started configuring the system.

Ross - Correct. The system is actually a backup/port from a temporary R-Pi installation (doing this had it's own issues). Not that it would kill me to redo it, the only significant amount of info is my Inbound Routing list.

Jeff - I actually looked at the IPBX feature list and compared it to what comes pre-installed with PIAF 2.0.6.4.4 Green. A large percentage of what is listed as IPBX is already in PIAF, the parts that aren't there don't appear to be of interest (to me).

Until a hardware failure about two weeks ago, my previous system was PIAF Gold 1.7.5.5 (Asterisk 1.4 and FreePBX 2.6)... When something works I leave it alone.

This is my home system, so constant fiddling tends to draw unwanted attention from the boss.

I hear ya --if it works, it works.

There are some nice features in IPBX, but many of them I don't use. It is nice that things come pre-installed so if, down the road, you decide you want to utilize them, you don't have to go through the manual steps.

AHHHHH yes the boss. Luckily I have a pretty understanding one that lets me play. She mostly uses her cell phone anyways. The only time I get in trouble is she I take both internet connections down and then it's the mini boss that gets mad at me.
