If it leads to the slippery slope we've seen with FreePBX and its commercial alternative, then probably not.
Official Ubuntu Community members get free support for up to 50 machines.

So you get support for 50 devices, but then you have to be one of the people supporting the apps for your own devices, making and eating your own dog food comes to mind.

If it's good enough for you, is it good enough for the community, if it's good enough for the community, is it good enough for you?

Can you push needed security updates without other community members claiming breakage?

That is my concern. I hope this is just aimed at personal/home desktop users. Sadly, there is less and less monetary contribution to open source projects so alternatives are being used to find a source of revenue.
