International Caller ID

In Australia, sometimes we get Caller ID brought in from Overseas,

We seem to get it from Singapore (sometimes) and New Zealand.

If there is anyone who uses a VSP that allows you to specify your CID or forward a CID, I would love it if they might be able to test whether or not the CID makes it down under.

I know there might be a small cost, but I am willing to donate to the project in your name, to more than offset this expense :)

I for one don't really understand your question.

What do you receive now (examples) and how do want to change it? Is the problem inbound and/or outbound? Could you supply CLI output or logs showing the problem? What's in your zaptel and zapata conf's?

I have a switch that allows manipulation of the outbound CID if this helps. PM me for an account and you can set up some testing.

I will try to eplain better... But I have made some progress

Background:

In Australia, I am led to believe, it is against the law to "spoof" caller ID.

So when a call comes in after hours and in processed by the IVR, 40% of the time the caller wishes to be "diverted" to my mobile (or cell phone)

However, it is a big problem that I am unable to do anything to "pass forward" the original caller's caller ID.

So the "divert" leg uses my office's DID not the DID of the original caller.

What I have tried so far:

I now know that this can be achieved quite easily with USA trunks. (I signed up with Vitelity last night). So when a number calls the office and is then "diverted" to another number the orignal caller's CID is passed out through the vitelity trunk.

HOWEVER, As I feared, for some reason, CID is only being passed one way internationally. IE. When I call my vitelity trunk from an australian phone, I get the Australian CID coming through, however when I call out using the vitelity trunk back into AUS, I get "private caller"

Does anyone know why caller id will not pass international borders?
