got same error.................

Just a heads up to be alert for malicious callback scams. If a caller spoofs their number or enters a new callback number and either of those is in an area code with very expensive calling rates, you could rack up an enormous phone bill without careful monitoring or blocking of certain area codes in your dialplan.

These international area codes blend into the standard 10-digit format used in North America, but calling them back incurs international toll charges:
  • 268: Antigua and Barbuda
  • 284: British Virgin Islands
  • 345: Cayman Islands
  • 473: Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique
  • 649: Turks and Caicos Islands
  • 664: Montserrat
  • 721: Sint Maarten
  • 758: Saint Lucia
  • 767: Commonwealth of Dominica
  • 784: Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  • 809, 829, 849: Dominican Republic
  • 868: Trinidad and Tobago
  • 869: Saint Kitts and Nevis
  • 876: Jamaica

I guess they would have to resolve that with Outbound Routes to make sure those are not included. But at this point, still in beta so best not to use it in production yet

Seems a good way to block those is to put make a dummy custom trunk and an outbound route with those area codes directing the outbound route to the dummy trunk.

The simplest solution to block all these calls is to add and save the following code immediately below [from-internal-custom] at the top of /etc/asterisk/extensions_custom.conf and then issue command: asterisk -rx "dialplan reload"
Code:
; Block international Caribbean/High-risk NANP calls
 exten => _NXXNXXXXXX,1,NoOp(Checking Dialed Number against Blocklist)
 exten => _268NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _284NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _345NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _473NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _649NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _664NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _721NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _758NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _767NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _784NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _809NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _829NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _849NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _868NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _869NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _876NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)

 exten => _1NXXNXXXXXX,1,NoOp(Checking Dialed Number against Blocklist)
 exten => _1268NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _1284NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _1345NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _1473NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _1649NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _1664NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _1721NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _1758NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _1767NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _1784NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _1809NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)

 exten => _1869NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)
 exten => _1876NXXXXXX,2,Goto(app-blackhole,hangup,1)

Maybe I can add that later as an a checkbox option to add and/or remove those from extension_custom.conf as "Block Expensive Caribbean area codes"?

I'm wondering if we shouldn't always block these area codes unless someone opts out because of the Ring-Once scams where malicious callers ring your phone once and hang up knowing most idiots will immediately return the calls.

Thinking about it more....what if someone has legit business in one of those area codes. Perhaps make a tab with blocked area codes with all of the Caribbean blocked when the module is installed. Then they can manually remove one or more with the possibility of adding more to the list including international.

For now I am waiting on Feedback from Joe and from anyone else interested in testing it at this point.
