Hello,

My DSL router failed and after setting up the new one with the same IP and DNS settings, my PBX can't access the outside world. I have tried using netconfig to reset the settings, reboot, reset settings via netconfig again, reboot again as I have seen in other threads here.

Any suggestions? My wife is racking up her cell minutes every day this is down! Thanks!

Hi

You need to identify where the problem lies.

1. Can you ping the router - if yes, its connected
2. Can other PC's get internet - if yes, Router works
3. Can you ping an IP address on the outside world - if no, recheck your IP settings with system-config-network, then service network restart.
4. Can you ping a domain name (www,google.com), if yes, you should be good to go. If not does it resolve. If it does not resolve, go to a Windows PC, and at a command prompt type ipconfig /all and see what the DNS server is. Open /etc/resolv.conf, and add the line nameserver 1.2.3.4 where 1.2.3.4 is the DNS server name.

Thanks for the tips. Went through your steps and ended up doing a factory reset on the router and updated the settings on the pbx. Works like before. Thanks again.
