Hi all,

Our new system is up and running as it should be, i would like to thank everyone who helped during the configurations. I really like the new release and its features way much advance and easier then few years ago. THANK YOU.
Now we have 2 systems each on different cost, connecting together with VPN, making it possible to dial just the extension on any of these 2 locations. Majority of our staff travel to the field for work, I have installed Xlite 4 softphone on their laptops since it is connected to the office thru VPN. when i call from that softphone on the VPN i can hear the receptient but they cannot hear me. i thought it is something about adding the VPN IP to the system? Maybe? not so sure.

the office IP 192.168.5.xxx and when the user on the VPN it gives his/her system IP of 192.168.200.xxx

As i mentioned earlier, it seems to be one way. even if someone calls my softphone extension when I am away from the office on my laptop, it does ring i can hear them but they cannot.

Idea? how?

Please and Thank you

Hi,

I have not, wasn't so sure..
in my /etc/asterisk/sip_custom.conf
I have:
externip=192.168.5.xxx
localnet= 192.168.5.0/255.255.255.0

you mean to add another line in this as another localnet as this:
localnet=192.168.200.0/24

cheers

Yes, failure to do this causes it to think it has to NAT the VPN traffic... Bad juju.

Hi i have done this add

192.168.200.xx/24 to
/etc/asterisk/sip_custom.conf

restart the network and test it i still get the same error, i can hear the person i am calling but they cannot hear me.
i restarted amportal, and tried the call droped. Nothing at all? cannot call or receive... i had to restart the entire system and commet the above line, back to normal but not what i was planing of.

idea??.

You didn't do what I said. I said to add 192.168.200.0/24, not 192.168.200.xx/24 (presumably xx is something other than 0?) Without knowing what specific part of the subnet is used for the vpn, it's hard to say...

Hi,

The VPN connection start at 192.168.200.100 and up.

root@pbx:~ $ more /etc/asterisk/sip_custom.conf
externip=192.168.5.1
localnet=192.168.5.0/255.255.255.0
localnet=192.168.200.0/24

that what i have in the system.

what i noticed, if i am remotely out of the office on the VPN and i use my softphone to call others, their phone rings, i can hear them, cannot hear me and the call drops.

Hi all,

Finally I found the issue, in PBX i had to enable to allow anyo SIP call set to "YES" with adding the above to the configuration and it is working fine now.
Hope that is safe...
thank you all for your help.

Cheers
