I have single line phones that I am using with an ATA. Can I make 2 separate outgoing calls on a single phone, some way, and join them together to conference myself and two other people?

Using a single POTS line and the ATA only, no.
Using a SIP account and an ATA only, maybe, but it depends on the ATA you have.
Using SIP, PIAF and an ATA, yes, there are a few ways you can do this, probably a conference room is easiest. Dial the first number, transfer to the conference room, dial the second, transfer, and then dial the conference room yourself.

Guess I didn't understand what I thought I understood. I do have PIAF, ATA, and SIP trunk. I can enter a conference without a problem if I put in conference number and pin first thing. But how do I call a number, make the connection and then enter the conference room? And if I was in the conference room, how would I get back to a dial tone to dial the second number?
