I am moving to a new office on Monday.
Ma Bell Canada is popping by Friday PM to install my phone lines. I was hoping to head off problems by asking here first much earlier than now  but better late than never ?

I am currently running a PIAF setup (Orgasmatron I) with Sangoma A200 cards 4 FXO lines.

Current setup:

(1) My main line
(2) A Rollover Line - this is a RING group run by my Telco, Bell.

Should I get Bell to install 2 separate RJ11 (Telephone) jacks ? One for Line 1 and 1 for Line 2 and then cancel the "Telco organized Rollover" ?

I dont want patients to know about "the other line", but I can handle all that with Asterisk I think.

As well, I have an incoming partner who will have the same thing (a main line and a rollover line). We should install 2 RJ11 jacks for him as well ?

We are also installing to Telco. Fax lines, unrelated to the Orgasmatron/PIAF - we are keeping that separate.

Can anyone think up anything I would want to do differently than my current plan ?

I think he's coming at noon !

we have a similar thing at my office here in Britain but the telephone company (British Telecom) gives us the "best of both worlds"

say our main office number is 01632 960020

BT provides us with two separate copper pairs on two separate line jacks. If a inbound caller calls 01632 960020 and Line 1 is engaged, the call rolls over to the next line.

However these also have their own numbers (which we don't publish or use apart from if I wish to test a circuit individually)

for example
Line 1 would be 01632 960055
Line 2 would be 01632 960087 (the numbers aren't consecutive)

The way I did it was to keep the rollover from the telco, using FreePBX give each Zap channel a DDI number the same as the DDI number the telco provides - but use an inbound route to the same ring group for both numbers.

In conclusion get two line jacks (its more convenient for wiring and testing) but you can keep the telco rollover if they will also give you the DDI numbers for each separate pair.

Thanks for the TIP !:cheers2:
I think I will hold on telling Bell about cancelling the RINGover.

They finished. Looks Good.
Should be an interesting weekend !
