Mitel 5212 on 3cx

I know all the posts I have seen say this phone is not supported on SIP, and it isn't a supported 3cx phone but I did set it up on an earlier version of 3cx and all of the features worked. Running version 16 now and it is getting an IP from DHCP but it isn't registering, and I suspect as it isn't a supported phone its probably not provisioning either. I have tried various other phone setups but so far not found one, and can't find a way of provisioning an unsupported phone. I did have a config file that worked but I don't have it any more. Its a great phone with lots of features so if anyone can advise I would appreciate it. It is seeing date and time and all parameters from web interface but I don't thing it is seeing 3cx, although it is seeing the address of my 3cx server.

Do you know if the SIP protocol firmware is active on your phone? My understanding is that by default it runs the Mitel proprietary protocol and to get SIP you need to replace the firmware, unless on newer models this has been unified and both capabilities are now built into the same firmware. (My experience goes back a few years now and I'm no longer a Mitel user, so I am not sure how it evolved)
You should be able to verify that by accessing the built in web page on the phone through its current IP address and TCP port 80.
I have this blog entry that I had clipped away some time ago, it might be of help, although it is not specifically for 3CX, but it's for SIP enablement on Mitel 5212.

Hi Halea and thanks - I am running in SIP mode and the 5212 has the latest firmware you suggested - R8.0.0.04 and it now boots up with DHCP, and is getting time and date from the ntp server I guess - it just isn't registering so I have probably done something stupid on the authentication screens between 3CX and the Mitel but at least I have a good start so thanks for the advice. The 5212 was my favorite desk phone when I was running 3csx so I may contact 3cx for a way of setting up unsupported phones! Once again, thanks for your help.
