Hello every one,

I need a urgent assistant, I installed and reinstalled PIAF 1.4 and Centos 5.2 with a private ip address (dhcp), everything works fine, but when I'm trying to bring everything over the public ip address using the "netconfig" and "service network restart" or "shutdown -r now" redo the same thing, when I been kick it out, try to ssh with the new ip, I'm not able, even call the box using the GUI, nothing. but from the box, you can ping for instance www.google.com and when I type "ifconfig", I'm seing my public ip address with his gw as well. I tried to use the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and setup everything manually such as eth0, hwaddr, etc but nothing still working, but when I'm try to return to dhcp using the netconfig, I can login back to the box.:mad5:

So please any body have an idea what do I need to check or do, I been working on this for 48 hours not sleep, so please I bug you to do something, I'm online, you can also chat with me if you would like @ [email protected]

Thank in advance for your help. FYI: I'm a newbie on every thing linux and asterisk:confused5:

Why do you need it on a Public IP address?

I think you are going about this the wrong way. Setup your PBX on your internal network and then setup your modem etc to forward requests on certain ports (if required) to your PBX.

If you are new to both Linux and Asterisk get used to not sleeping if you are going to try to do things in a hurry.

Agreed.... Do Not put your box on the internet with a public IP address.... use a firewall and set up Nat forwarding for SIP, RTP, and IAX. Use source based NAT (only allow access to those ports from specific outside IP addresses). If workers or friends need access and do not have static IP addresses then use a vpn (openvpn or Hamachi)

Two excellent choices for open source firewalls are Pfsense and Endian Firewall...... "Work smarter not harder"
