I have a lot of old extra equipment laying around and wondering what I should do with it.

my hopes are to have a conference bridge of some sort (possibly with A2Billing)

to build a nice size for small local town (with A2Billing), VoIP provided phone service.... of course to be tested with friends and family all of US first before any real system is built.

A free radius server for some WiFi hotspots we are going to be trying to sell (not really the forum, but thought I'd throw it out there anyways).

anyhow here is what I have laying around.

Dell Poweredge 2450
Dell Poweredge 6400
x2 Rackable Systems Dual Xeon 2.66Mhz with 2GB RAM

and a few other things as well such as...

Cisco 1841 - a few of them laying around
Cisco 871w - a few
Cisco 877w - a few
Cisco 2960
lots of other equipment like this....................

just thought I'd see what the rest of you'd do with this (shall we say slightly older equipment) would do...

Thanks,
Nathan

I guess one of the questions that I am hoping to answer with this is that should there be enough power to run a small A2billing system to get something going on "The New Friends and Family" VOIP phone system to try out and see how it goes.

You've got enough equipment to do it! The 1841's are nice routers that will work with the 2960's VLANs. I'm familiar with both. but not familiar with the 87xx series. You'll find that the dual Xeon rack systems will give you lots of power for Asterisk. Easily 500+ extensions each.

It sounds like a fun project!
