Just set up my home PBX now running 3CX on an ASUS chromebox. CPU is sitting at 2% and less than 10% of the 16GB SSD is used.

1. Prep your Chromebox to allow dev mode: http://kodi.wiki/view/Chromebox#Device_Preparation
2. follow this tutorial http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=194362 and choose option 6, a standalone boot
3. Download the 3cx iso and use Rufus to put the iso on usb flash drive
4. Boot Chromebox using usb
5. Install
You will get Debian install asking for realtek firmware for the motherboard
put the .deb package on another usb thumbdrive if you want and insert when it asks you
