Hi there,

Got pbxiaf 1.1 running as a charm but now I want to change the voiceprompt to my language. I have the files I need but don't know exactly how to install and what to adjust so people hear the correct sound prompts.

Anyone there who can point me in the right direction.

Tnx. Roy.

What language? Digium has a number of different languages available on their download site. The method by which update source does it can be modified for a particular language,

Hi Tom,

I mean the Dutch language. Like I sad before, I have all the sound files in *gsm format that I need but I cannot get PiaF to play them. I dont know exactly where to put the files under the /sounds/.. dir and wich files to edit so PiaF knows it's suppost to play the Dutch sound files instead of the English one's.

Thnx in advance for any assistance.
Roy

Btw. PiaF rocks..

Hi

Create a directory in /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/nl and put your sounds in the nl directory.

Give them asterisk ownership so cd /var/lib/asterisk/sounds the chown -R asterisk:asterisk nl

You can then set the language in FreePBX and in zapata.conf etc with language=nl

Thanks Joe,

This has started me in the right direction . Now I just have to figure out which configuration files to edit. Until now the only one I can find with a language statement is the zapata.conf mentioned by you earlier.

Maybe you also have some input for this?

Thanks a million in advance.

Roy.

Hi

Take the following comments with a pinch of salt, because I have never really explored the full possibilities of this.

Language (which is different from country and is set elsewhere) is set on each channel.

So if you wanted to hear Dutch on your PSTN lines, then set the language to NL, so as you noticed - language=nl in your zapata.conf

Likewise if you have an inbound SIP trunk, you would add the line language=nl in sip_custom.conf (the instructions say sip.conf, but as an upgrade of FreePBX may overwrite this file, it would be wise to go with the custom file.

Also notice that in later versions of FreePBX, there is the ability to set the language code (nl) against each extension for recordings etc.

Note that the Asterisk works with sound in a cascading manner, so if the required sound file does not exist in /sounds/nl it will then look for the sound file in /sounds and play the Allison Smith from the english Digium version.

Let us know how you get on.

Yours

Joe
