I am considering purchasing something like the Nokia N810 (or something equivalent if I could find one...), and after playing with it at a retail store I have to say I'm in love, mostly because the screen is significantly larger both in size and resolution as compared to the Treo series that I'm used to - after all 800x400 is pretty big :)

While it meets most of my needs, I'm looking to replace my now-broken Linksys WIP330 phone with another device, and it occured to me to merge both functions together, essentially making myself a large-screen treo-like thing for wifi/VOIP use (no cell service necessary).

Has anyone played with these units before? Or know of another unit like this? I saw another unit in the store branded "google tablet PC" but searching in google didn't give me any joy (which surprised me), and the unit didn't have a model number on it nor could the salesperson find the box that goes with it so I could... well... google it :)

I was really excited by the Sony Mylo, however the salesperson made it clear that's skype only and will never talk to anything remotely asterisk-like in nature.

Nokia's 'N' line are really fun devices. I have the N800 and the Talk client has an option to add SIP credentials. I've been able to use it as both a local extension at home and remote extension while on the road. This should apply to the N810 as well.

N770

I have been using the 770 for several years now, and love it. The nifty thing is (as Ward pointed out), is that you can install the Gizmo client and allow for secondary access to an Asterisk server. The combination works like a champ, although running continuous wifi is murder on the battery life... Of course you can create additional battery life, using an altoid solution... :)
