I use IncrediblePBX in a number of locations. In several I have incoming DIDs for companies that share the location (owned by the same person though) routed to different extensions; essentially multiple operators. IncrediblePBX is a good solution for them.
I am installing an 85 node system in a building with three operating companies (owned by the same parent company and all work together on projects) where they share one operator. In this case all incoming DIDs will route to one operator extension. The Operator must know which incoming DID routed the call so she can say the correct company name; i.e., Hello this is Alpha Company for DID1 and Hello this is Bravo Company if the call comes in on DID2, etc. Is there a way to show this on the phone? I am using Grandstream phones currently (GXP2170 or GXV3240) but I am not married to this brand if another will work better.

I am using Incredible PBX 12.0.76.4 with latest updates/patches.

CNAM would do it, so on the incoming DID, the name would be prefixed before the incoming number.

Though Xivo may be a better fit to your requirements

I have been looking at Xivo but am having difficulty getting it to run and getting it configured in my test VM. I skeptical of putting it in production. Can you expain the CNAM solution? Where would I configure this in FreePBX?

Agree. CID prefix is an easy reliable solution that should be compatible with most any phone, but is certainly OK on Grandstream:

To re-inforce the difference, they routes could be set to ring separate account line keys and even distinct ringtones, depending on the number of "companies."

If the traffic pattern is appropriate, have an IVR answer with the company name and a "enter extension or 0 for operator" message, then the operator only has to answer "how may I direct your call"

Thank you. The CID works well. I had already mentioned IVR to them but they want a personal touch as much as possible.

we do this all the time.

we use ring groups, and "CID Name Prefix:"

populate this with the comapny name..
i.e,. if populated with "Alpha: ", an inbound call would read "Alpha: 2428838943"
pretty obvious to the receptionist who's getting an inbound...

A ring group doesn't have to have more than one phone in it, so this is a handy way to segregate..
