TIPS Outbound SMS with DiD?

Hi all - been doing a lot of googling and searching the forums - is there an option (with the proper provider) to send SMS messages out using your DID number? I am thinking that there is, but wondering what kind of PC app and Mobile app would support it?

Vitelity offers this, and so does VoIP Innovations. I like the Vitelity option as it is free. It can work in conjunction with S.MS to give you the ability to send and receive office text messages from your desktop.

I was looking at vitelity as the provider... just cant connect the dots from client side to SMS delivery... does asterisk support some SMS functionality, and what kind of client? s.ms is looking like a viable option....

Try giving Vitelity a call and tell them what you want to accomplish and see if they can "connect those dots". I think I recall that it can be used with any XMPP interface. Not sure about it interfacing with Asterisk, as how would you want it to interface?

You might want to take a look at our SMS tutorial for voip.ms. It will at least help you formulate some questions to ask Vitelity. Haven't gotten that far yet.
