Config is:
Linksys PAP2T, PBIAF, DID from voip.ms
alaw protocol to PAP2T
Fax set to 9600 baud.
PIAF 1755 Gold (not that important though, in this case).

Not really very reliable. My feeling is this is latency / jitter related; the jitter is not bad on this line (2ms) but the latency is somewhat high (Typically 90 ms or so).

Anyone have a tweak or two (or setting or two) to suggest? The current setup works about 50% of the time.

Unless it's absolutely required, why introduce the analog component? Why not use AvantFax/HylaFax included with IncrediblePBX?
I use Voip.ms with AvantFax/IncrediblePBX, and have about a 95% success rate. I get a few complaints, but the cost savings of the setup is huge, so I just keep that in the back of my mind. :)

Regrettably, it is absolutely required ...

Otherwise, you'd be right (Because in fact I already have the setup more than half done).

OK have most of your settings but the rest of them (boulderboy) I don't; not sure why provisioning would matter though.

The RTP packet size might though.

I've come up with an idea to use voip.ms in LA direct to the PAP2T instead of to the corporate server in Toronto via VOIP.ms. This seems to have actually vastly improved things because latency is much lower. Unfortunately this office is particularly badly located and can only use a wireless (ie like wimax) solution. Still, the LA latency is 30 ms whereas Toronto was 80 - 90. Should be less jitter as well.
