Here my issues....Whenever a call comes in and is answered, when the called is then put on hold longer than 2 minutes it just disconnects. Is there a setting somewhere for this? End users are using Ubuntu/Twinkle. Thanks in advance.

Destination for Orphaned Parked Calls:

In the FreePBX Parking Lot screen. Also set the timeout.

I dont think this is the issue just because i do not have the Parking Lot feature enabled. Other suggestions?

Could it possibly be my rtptimeout in the sip_general_custom.conf? Its currently set to rtptimeout=120

End users are using Ubuntu/Twinkle.

Have you tried changing the Call Hold variant field in Twinkle?

A similar problem identified with Bria was solved by setting rtp:inactivity:timer_enabled to 0. Does Twinkle have a rtp inactivity timer?

Not really sure what i should or shouldnt be changing in the call variant field...The RFC value,??? I have no idea if twinkle has a rtp inactivity timer...Anyone?

I set up Twinkle on Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop and was able to reproduce this issue. I had the same test results with X-lite 4 and Windows Vista.

When the far end placed the call on hold the softphone would disconnect after 2 min. When the call was placed on hold at the Twinkle or X-lite end, the call did not disconnect.

Changing rtptimeout=120 to rpttimeout=180, caused the call to disconnect after 3 minutes.

Not sure that is the correct fix, but it does have an affect on how long the call is on hold before it drops.

Additional tests...

I set rpttimeout back to 120 and set rtpkeepalive to 30. The call did not drop until I hung up one of the end points.

The default value for rtpkeepalive is 0. There is also a rtpholdtimeout set to 300, but did not have an affect on the hold time as the call stayed on hold for over 6 mins. before I hung up.

I will try to find out more about rptkeepalive, but for now I am setting mine to value 30.

Thank you so much Ronw...Where do i change the rtpkeepalive value? All i have in my sip_general_custom.conf is the rtptimeout=120. Do i add it here or is this values somewhere else? One more question...Im editing this file through freepbx-tools-config edit, is this fine?

You can make the changes as you are doing, but it is best to go to Tools->Asterisk SIP Settings and make the changes there. It is about the middle of the page under MEDIA & RTP Settings.

It will depend on the version of FreePBX if Asterisk SIP Settings is available.

I have googl'd rtpkeepalive and find many discussions on the topic. Apparantly it is a work around for those devices not sending rtp packets during silence.

Unfortunately its not there...probably cause im still using Freepbx 2.5....I assume it doesnt hurt anything to make the changes the way im doing it, correct?
