okay, i must be doing something stupid. i downloaded the template, created the PVM, started it, entered it, ran passwd-master to set a generic password. i then went to the web page, clicked on the admin link and entered my new password. rejected. what am i missing?

CAPS LOCK? Maybe try running passwd-master again. Also try using "maint" as the password.

It was in fact maint (this is the first-level password, before you get the user/password box.) I guess I am confused as to why I didn't see that documented anywhere :(

It's been quite awhile since I installed my piaf bronze, so maybe this is not a new thing. What I see is: browse to the new install. A box pops up wanting a password (just a password, not a user&password). Giving 'maint' gets me past that. Then, when you click on the Admin tab, you get the user&password box pop up, and *that* one accepts 'maint' and my newly-changed password. I'm puzzled what is popping up the earlier password-only box, and why multiple howtos and google searches haven't revealed the magic 'maint' there? I did finally find someone with the same problem who posted the pathname where the problematic password is: /var/www/html/welcome/.htindex.dat. Again, I *did* do quite a bit of searching, finding quite a few posts here and elsewhere describing how to install pbx in a flash (including the openvz containers), and never once saw a mention of this, nor does passwd-master seem to change this password. Sorry to sound grumpy, but this seems really bogus :(

I think if you run update-scripts and update-fixes, then set the master-passwd it will set to the correct (your) password.

Mine is working correctly with the correct password. And no, its not documented.

This is news to me as well and I built the template. Will check it out.

thanks ward. again, sorry to come off grumpy - i had insomnia and a migraine last night :(

I just did a purple VZ template install and had the same problem with a login screen to FreePBX admin asking for a password. "maint" works (does not ask for username)

I had already run passwd-master, so it looks like this password is not updated with passwd-master

This just happened to me as well...and it took me quite a while to find this thread...

Man, if you need something done the hard way...I'm your man.
