PIAF 1.3 64 Bits amportal restart problem

Hi there

I just instaled a new 1.3 PIAF. Just before anything (even update-scripts and update-fixes) I issued a "amportal restart" and recevied the folow messages:

-/usr/sben/safe_asterisk: line 125: 2872 segmentation fault
-asterisk exited with exit status 139
-asterisk exited on signall 11
-cat: /var/run/asterisk.pid: no cuch file or directory
-automatically restarting asterisk
-asterisk stopped

-mpg123: no process killed

Afther this I ran the update-scripts and update-fixes (now 14-sep-2008 at 12:00 GMT).

Afther the message about a "bug?" about amportal restart with 64 bits version and the need to recompile, I thinked that the issue will be gone.

Afther the update-fixes ended, I issued a amportal restart, and everything was ok. But afther a reboot the message comes again and entered in a endless loop and afther the first says that asterisk ended with exit code 1.

I found in this forum a way to try to solve this doing:

updatedb
and changing in /usr/sbin/safe_asterisk
from:
killallmpg123=1
to
killallmpg123=0

but it also didn´t work.

Can anybody help with this?

use amportal kill then amportal start instead. This is an ongoing problem with the amportal program under 64bit.

May I assume that even with this amportal "problem" is it safe, in your opinion, to use this 64bits version in production systems?

Sigh I won't on my commercial installs. Others do and have made the plunge successfully. I can't help wondering if there is more behind this problem than meets the eye. I keep a 64 bit box up in the lab running on an atom box and every so often swap it in as my primary PBX system for our office with no problems. I run various pots cards with the system and they all work so far under 64bit.

I've been playing with the PIAF 1.3 and Asterisk 1.6 in 32 bit mode and have similar issues. Amportal kill will work for me as well.

Aside from that, the current 1.6 RC release is more buggy than the Beta-9 release was....Surprising considering Astricon is very, very close.
