PIAF 1.7.5.6 BETA is Ready for Testing featuring CentOS 5.6

A follow up to darmock, my status page does show that I have 5.6 final, but you are correct, old kernel:
2.6.18-194.26.1.el5 - 32 Bit

So I guess new installs will show that 5.6 is the OS version.

If you'd like to volunteer to be a pioneer, please drop me a note. The 32-bit ISO is ready for some serious testing. Thanks.

I'm planning on re-doing my system anyway, but not sure I'm ready to beta test anything yet. If you still need more people though, let me know, the system's going to be re-done anyway, so it's not such a big deal...

Seems good

Install of the beta with Bronze payload went smoothly. PHP version is 5.1.6

We're stuck with 5.1.6 until the CentOS Dev Team gets their act together with some of the dependencies.

The 100% CPU usage seems to be a problem in how FreePBX does its monitoring. Whatever they're doing doesn't work correctly with CentOS 5.6 and the new kernel.

Yup I have posted that the CPU usage of 100% is false and related to the way freepbx interacts with the real Centos 5.6 kernel. I don't really use the interface that much so I just ignore it.

I supposed someone could fu...er fork some of the GUI's out there and give a different interface for asterisk status.. now where can we find a php guru......

As for status gee I am still upgrading all of our programs and it has not hit mainstream just yet... I am surprised no one has complained that the splash screen still shows 1755.....

Thanks for the beta report. I still think the 5.6 kernel seems faster to me.....

I suppose I should be grateful that people are actually testing it! hehe fixed all the problems that I have found so far... Had to add a bunch of new code cuz 5.6 and 5.5 are just different enough....

Unfortunately for the beta testers they will have to reinstall when the final ISO comes out in a few days in order to get EVERYTHING just so. Added a few new programs also which will be retro added but not installed for the existing 1755 installs.

BTW he complained that the STATUS screen was showing 1755 not the SPLASH screen (which is shown as the first screen prior to boot.... but you know that  )

hehe gotta have some fun.

Regards

Tom

Tom has had his head down wrestling with this for a solid week now. That would cause just about anyone to lose their sweet disposition, even Tom. So bear with us. We're peddling mighty fast. :wink5:

Suffice it to say, CentOS 5.6 has been an enormous can of worms compared to earlier versions. We're not accustomed to multiple things (much less everything) blowing up when you run the default compiler. It also brought home the fact that some code (e.g. dahdi) was compiled against specific versions of the kernel. That's less than ideal to put it charitably. Admirably, they did patch it in less than one day!

Trust me you don't even come close to a whiner!

I was taking a break from fixing things and just had to point out the difference in what someone else was "whining" about.......

Here I will buy you a virtual beer :cheers2:

Everybody is touchy these days..... I am afraid to ask where the election is..... At least there are still elections.... I keep thinking the way the world is going that pretty soon they should just put up a fence around the US and tell everybody on the inside we are prisoners....... Call it the stars and stripes curtain. But I whine too much

That's a spectacular quote... very nice, yet sad
