:banghead: Ok, going crazy here, so need another set of brains !

Setup.

Piaf 1775. Several remote IAX2 softphones, all OK.

Problem Remote.

Windows 7
McAfee firewall.
Zoiper Softphone on Iax2.

Symptoms.

Zoiper shows registered, Piaf shows not registered.
Zoiper can make authenticated calls out, no problem.

When I remote into windows 7 & restart zoiper it registers correctly, but, calls into zoiper fail after 20-30 seconds, calls out perfect.

Zoiper stays registered in PIAF.

Log out of remote, 5 mins later that extension is unavailable.

I have checked zoiper is in the firewall as a program with full access & have punched a hole through for port 4569. Nothing showing in the firewall alerts.

Nothing unusual showing in Iax2 debug other than that extension dropping off the planet.

Done everything I can think of with the McAfee firewall

So, fresh ideas or clues ?

Mike

Sounds like the firewall is still interfering. The port you opened was UDP & TCP? Did you check the McAfee logs to see if there was a supporting application that McAfee might be blocking?

As a means of pinpointing the problem, can you disable the McAfee firewall completely, just for a little while, and see if it works without the firewall?

Touch wood, its working, for now.

I seem to have disturbed something on the last playaround. + updated Zoiper to latest, + a couple of reboots.

Nothing in the McAfee logs, & not easy to turn the firewall off while I'm remoted in, I might lock myself out.

Other problems.

Zoiper not ringing through speakers, only on handset, changing audio settings have no effect.

And, the guy has the win 7 bug with shutting down, but that's to solve at later date

Whole reason for using IAX2 is for its ability to punch through Nat & most firewalls.

Not had these problems with anything else, & this is 1 guy I would have liked to impress.

In the past I found zoiper to be a poor quality crash-prone program. Don't know if they have improved.

It works, its stable, it does Iax2 and its free.

Problems I am having are more to do with Win 7 and the McAfee firewall.

Hi

I've been caught on this one, there was a bug that caused zoiper to register on SIP and IAX at the same time, and fail2ban or OSSEC would block access because there was no corresponding registration.

Hm,

Zoiper 2.34 and above seem ok.

Checked that anyway as nothing getting to my firewall.

Punching a hole for 4569 in the McAfee firewall seems to have helped.

It was registered most of yesterday & last night, but nothing this morning.

I am hoping it is just the guy turning off his laptop, as I don't want to bug him too much.

Weird that Zoiper would show registered when in fact it was not.

Time will tell.

I see I'm not the only one to find Zoiper bugs. :wink5:

Not saying they can't improve, or Zoiper is the source of your problems. But don't assume it is perfect when troubleshooting.

Ok, Zoiper not perfect,
any recommendations for a softphone with Iax2 ?
