PIAF-Red: Asterisk No Worky

I was having trouble with installs the other week. Same issue you seem to be having. I tried 1.6, 1.8, and 10 with no success. Not sure if its working now or not...

There was only some download
problems over the week, but now
I have it working.

Great improvements.

Google voice gets answered and
calls go out nicely, you can set it
for 1+ dialling or just the 10 digit
number.

I am trying to install 1.8 on a physical machine RIGHT NOW. Asterisk has failed to compile 2 times already.

You have been around a while so you should know to look in the /var/log/install-red.log and find out where it is NOT compiling and post a short excerpt!

Really hard to help without sufficient information such as where the problem is!!!!!!!!!

Also what version the current supported version or one of the other red versions? Current supported version is 10.0.0-beta2

You could try dropping down to the cli prior to running the install and type

yum install sqlite-devel just on an odd chance it is not loaded.

Also are you using the current 17571 ISO? if not there is your problem as Asterisk now requires more dependencies.

Sorry about that. Yes I have been around here.

I was installing purple. My post was less about PIAF and more about digium. I have never had an issue EVER installing PIAF, this is a first, but its not PIAF its an asterisk issue.

so what is the issue? Enquiring minds want to know!

Unfortunately the only way to make it more reliable is to mirror all of the digium stuff.... Unfortunately when you compile asterisk it does on the fly downloads from digium and not the piaf servers.....

Here is the log. Not sure what to look for, but it isn't an internet connection issues as I took the box home and have the same outcome.

Also, this is the latest ISO installed from a CD, the same outcome with an older ISO as well.

I am trying to install purple.

That is a weird one! There are no errors in the log!

if the next install fails do the following and let me know

1. cd /usr/src/asterisk
2. ./configure
3. make menuconfig
4. ensure the cdr stuff is selected
5. Save the file in make menuconfig
6. make
7. make install

See if there are any errors at the console.

Also what hardware exactly are you installing to and are you using the latest 17571 ISO or is this a roll your own version using someone elses script?

BTW I just finished do a purple install using the 17571 ISO and the latest payload file with no problems into a vmware workstation image. Last night I installed a purple QEMU onto prox and am just installing a new purple xen system on our shiny new xen server that was donated by rentpbx! asterisk seemd to compile just fine. sorry you are having problems

darmock, I sincerely apologize for taking up your time. I learned something here for the first time:

1. Never assume you have the latest distro of PIAF
2. Prior to each install, just go to sourceforge and download the latest ISO, burn, and install.

I think the PIAF distro I was installing was 2 months old, since it was centos 5.6 I believe and the new distro is using 5.7

No worries... There are new dependencies in asterisk. The new ISO takes care of it. The old ones all need to be shredded. While I understand some people like the old ISO's if you use them they wont install purple or red. This is not something we added rather it is a response to changes in source from outside of PIAF.

Hope it works for you now.
