PIAF2: FreePBX 2.10 not working

Just to play around with I loaded on 2.0.6.2.1 32 bit and wanted to try out Asterisk 10 and Freepbx 2.10. I make these selections during install but when it is finished I see that Freepbx is only 2.8.0.2. No problem, I think, I'll just update from within the Freepbx GUI. When I try to update to 2.9 I get this error: "freepbx_settings table must be removed ... and amportalsetting must be removed completely" it also suggests that I had upgraded previously and have somehow rolled back to 2.8. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?

Nope attached is a screen shot of a system I just installed 10 mins ago and it works fine. Try reinstalling I have noticed that sometimes people tap the wrong choice in the wizard and then dont actually read the summary. With the 2.0.6.x tree we have added extra validation sequences to try to ensure that your choice of freepbx is processed. However....odd things happen and your experience is not the norm. I guess we can add some more visual validation sequences to try to eliminate if it is user error and then see if it is a code based logic error.

Of course you could always look through your logs! People really need to say Hey I chose 2.10 as shown in the log and then it downloaded and installed 2.8 as shown in the log. Every time I suggest people post their logs they send us the whole thing. We are not interested in looking through all that data that is your job. We only want to see the relevant snippets. Then we may ask you to email us the whole log.

So for the moment it works here. You need to also post the relevant unedited output from status along with any info about what your hardware/virtualization tech is.

I also chose FBX 2.10 on 3 different computers and get 2.8 like Jake claims, and also the same error which was not fixable. I was only curious to take 2.10 for a spin.

No idea works on the 100 or so odd systems I have personally tested it on. Both in vm and real hardware. Just finished another install while testing the new Incredible fax 2.X (NO NOT AVAILABLE) with 20621 -32 bit purple and all seems well. Just checked our long term test bed that is using 20621 32/64 with red/purple and verified that all are running Freepbx 2.10. Like I said look in your logs and see what happened. If we cant duplicate the error then we can fix it. The pbx that runs the lab full time was switched over to it on Christmas day yup running 2.10 on real hardware.

I just ran through an install from the 32-bit ISO and chose FreePBX 2.10. No problems here. Version 2.10 is quite a departure from the traditional interface found in earlier versions of FreePBX.

It seems to run well under VirtualBox, too.

a AMD Turion™ 64 X2 TL-50 and 2 GB of RAM.

Try the following

1. reinistall from scratch (sorry no other way)
2. After the first reboot drop to the cli by choosing no to the legal agreement
3. log in as root
4. type piafdl -d
5. Choose red to install
6. during the setup wizard choose freepbx 2.10
7. also choose to install the optional support modules for freepbx step 3a (BTW this is going away and becoming mandatory on all installs that use 2.10
8. report back

This is a freepbx problem I am afraid and I have reported it up the line. I believe it is fixed in the final release of freepbx 2.10. I have done some jiggery pokery to force it to install.

if it works for you we will push this out. Oddly it does not show up on our dev machines so I need to dig into our build system and see why.

Thanks for finally posting the log snippets! If people would actually do this in their first post we can get to the root of problems quicker. I suspect all of the other errors are related to fpbx not installing

FYI,

After Jake posted more info, I went back and ran through the installation choosing Asterisk 10 and FreePBX 2.10. Previously, I had selected Asterisk 1.8 and FreePBX 2.10 which worked.

For me, this appears to be the reason it's "failing":

Checking for Asterisk version..[FATAL] Asterisk 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, or 1.8 is required for this version of FreePBX. Detected version is: 10.0.0

Jake, if you really want to test out 2.10, I'd suggest installing 1.8 for the time-being. That seems to work fine.

No guarantees this will work for you, but I was able to drop the table freepbx_settings in the asterisk database from phpmyadmin. I was able to successfully upgrade to FPBX 2.9 afterward. I mention this in case you want to attempt to salvage your current install.

Just out of curiosity, if 2.10 fails on install, is there some kind of fallback that installs 2.8? That's what I wound up with, same as Jake, once the installation completed.

I modified the install so it now processes 2.10 correctly. There should be something official from freepbx shortly that will fix this problem as I sent the info over to them.

I discovered that it was fixed in our developer version which is why it works over here. The patch was never pushed out. As for why it installs 2.8 that is a mystery as there is no fallthru however that is a good idea!

sigh I need to write a log parser for fpbx that only pulls out the errors and notifies the user.... one more thing to the list... hell I was just about to add chan-sccp-b to 206x....

Thanks! We were approached by the author to include this. I was quite disappointed that their V3 release only supports asterisk 1.6 at the moment.

Through an agreement we will be adding there tagged Version 4 to our 2.0.6.x release. with the usual caveats that it is beta and unsupported. However they want a larger testing pool for this so they are willing to support it if we distribute it.

That being said we are going to take the most stable of the svn release and make it static. Then we will upgrade the payload when a new proven stable version is released by them.

I am going to lok at it this weekend now the incredible fax 2.0 is out. I assume you are running this TM1000? Or is this in the endpoint manager? Any tips or hints?

I am running V4 in a remote location for one cisco phone and it works wonders. Its much better than SIP for the cisco 79xx phones.

I love the sccp-b project and I hope to include a configuration (soon) in the next release of endpoint manager. Especially since I am swapping out that remote cisco for a yealink so I should have that cisco in my hands later today.

Will you include a configurator for the sccp configuration file?

I am going to lok at it this weekend now the incredible fax 2.0 is out. I assume you are running this TM1000? Or is this in the endpoint manager? Any tips or hints?

Going to try.. that was a request from the developers so we will try to please them along with everybody else cuz as you know if you dont write it perfect for everybody with every possible configuration they will complain...... That is when I get sarcastic..... Got some loose ends to tie up and then will start in it. Hope to release a whole spate of new codecs from silk to sccp-b early in the year.

Thanks good to know that 4.X works as well. Let me know if you want anything special in the install/configurator.

Well after an evening wrestling with 210 it dont work with Asterisk 10.0..... any number of patches it still fails. So we are going to disable fpbx 2.10 BETA installs with Asterisk 10.0 RED installs for the moment. I know they are working on patching things so we will re-enable it when the fix comes out

We have found some extra things that need massaging with Asterisk 10.0/freepbx 210 so we ask your patience while we break out the baby oil.

We call Asterisk 10.0 beta for a reason, and Freepbx 2.10 is beta.

Luckily one of the dev team sleeps even worse than I do and sent me a log analysis at 0330 this morning and when I got up at 0415 there was a new puzzle in my mailbox.



I know you guys just hate running through the HUGE install log but if when you find a problem and read through and try to find an error it helps to get things fixed even quicker.

Just for clarification. Our purple build is our production build and by necessity it gets the majority of the development time. Our red build is our beta/test build thus it receives far less developer time. This is where the members who actually read the log files, post relevant log snippets, post copies of status and status 2, when they find something are the ones who assist us the most.

I know all of the PIAF Dev Team have minimal tolerance for the "program broke" ... "fix" posts where I liken it to pulling teeth without anaesthetic. We realize that there are a number of newbs who haven't the foggiest idea how to do anything in linux. I think I will open up a new development project to perhaps write a document, for newbs, on how to get the info the development team needs in order to help with debugging. Centos 6.2 has had a steep learning curve to it and a lot of the problems in the last month or so have been related directly to it. Any takers out there in the community who want to take a stab at writing this document? If so please PM me so we can work out the details.

Ok so fixed the problems there were at least 3. Red now installs fpbx 2.10 just fine now. You will have to go thru it and make sure all of the sub programs are working. I concentrated on getting it to install consistently.

I have modified both red and purple to automatically add the "optional" freepbx 2.10 modules.

I have uploaded everything to the developer site now and ward will post when it gets out onto the general sites.

If you want to test it and just cant wait do the following

5. Choose red to install

You should see version 2.2.7 of the INSTALL-RED program installing.
