SOLVED Problem installing PIAF.

I'm trying to install "pbxinaflash20645-i386.iso" via ANY means (usb and dvd) and I simply can't get it to work. CentOS installs and after reboot, I'm brought to the CentOS login screen. I've only successfully installed PIAF on a VM, all other attempts have failed.

I've made sure I have internet connectivity as after the reboot I can ping out and yum update with no problems.

We have a working PIAF server running and it's great, we just need to get another one up for testing purposes. Any ideas?

DL160 G5, connected to internet via DHCP. I have the installer running right now via USB.

After the first reboot, and before the login screen, I receive the following: "ERST: Failed to get Error Log Address Range."

The ERST is probably a non-issue. See this link. Based upon the description in the link, it sounds like your firmware just doesn't support this feature (yet).

Have you tried to login as root and run piafdl, yet?

Running piafdl doesn't work. Command doesn't exist.

Let me describe my step by step process, maybe I'm not configuring something correctly.

I create the USB using unetbootin using the newest ISO.
Boot into USB by manually selecting the USB as boot device.
Select timezone and set a root password.
The GUI portion begins.
I leave the computer name as default "localhost.."
The disk/partition setup: I move my server harddrive over to the target, select boot option on it.
Leave the USB in the installation column.
Run the install.
Leave the repository options default and click through.
System prompts for reboot.
I removed USB.
Reboot.
Login.
Nothing.

The first red flag I see is "The GUI portion begins". While I haven't tried the latest ISO, yet, the installation routine has always been a Kickstart text-based install. Normally, there isn't an option to choose the hostname nor any of the other items you mentioned.

I do have the ISO downloaded. I'll try running through an install and see what I get. I'll check back after a while.

Yea in my previous attempts it has always been text only, but that was always a situation where I could not locate the ks.cfg properly and hit cancel for the "interactive" installation. I've pointed the ks.cfg to the thumbdrive and the CentOS GUI began showing up.

I'd put the USB stick aside for the time being and try an install using a CD or DVD. Sounds like the bootstrap setup is misconfigured which is probably because the USB stick is as well.

As Ward - wardmundy suggests, it seems to be something with the way your USB stick is configured. Booting from the CD, it all installs just as it should.
Since you mentioned it wouldn't install via CD previously, you may want to download the ISO again. If you're getting the same behaviour with the CD, there may be some other factor involved.

Burning 32-bit ISO to CDROM doesn't seem to work, the computers I'm testing on don't recognize it as bootable.

Ok, had to burn the CD from a Windows environment, and I suppose my USB stick is just one of the ones incompatible with this process. All in all, I've got PIAF installing. Thanks for the suggestions, in the end I needed to know: DHCP a must, this particular USB is NOT going to work, the CD needed to be burned from Windows (I'm in an all Mac workstation office).

I use MAC disk utility to burn bootable cd from iso files

I'm much more of a Windows user so we can chalk that up to me simply not knowing the best procedure in doing this, thanks for the tip islandtech

You can use a USB, but I have never had luck with that software and PIAF. I've used WIN2ISO.
