Two FXO/FXS questions?:

a. I'm looking at building a very very small IP PBX. The size I'm looking at precludes PCI FXO/FXS cards, so wondering how to attach the PBX to the PSTN.

What options are there? I'm thinking of a USB device that will plug into the PSTN socket, and thence into the PABX.

Of course, I then need to attach handsets (either cordless or extension wiring) to the PABX.

The requirement is to attach the PBX to the PSTN, and NOT just interface a pstn phone to VOIP.

b. Is there a PCI-e equivalent of the good old X100P adaptors? I'm looking at putting PBXIAF on a server, but it only has PCI-e and PXI-X (and I dont want to drag the PXI-X slots down to 33/32)

A pstn gateway may be an option

Sangoma have USB FXO devices in Beta at the moment.

The Sangoma USB devies has two FXO ports and retails for $139 US. I am pretty sure that it is out of beta, they just havn't updated their site.

Sangoma's A200 series can be configured with two FXS and two FXO ports and comes in a PCI-E flavor. It can also be ordered with hardware echo cancellation.

There's also the option of an ATA, if you don't mind the adaptor being TCPIP network attached instead of physically attached to the server.

Something like the Linksys SPA-3102 offers 1 x FXS and 1 x FXO. Lots of info around on how to configure it (which is great coz the setup screens in the SPA can be a bit daunting).
