i found the text below in the extensions_custom.conf but unsure what it does and how it works.

can anyone tell me if i can use it or DO NOT TOUCH IT n_n

In case you're not aware of this... In Asterisk, where there are semicolons starting a line, it means that line is commented out. wardmundy and company can probably shed some light on WHY it's there. It might be a good idea to leave it alone if you're using (and it works) Google Voice, however.
 
It's open source code. Experimentation is a wonderful thing. Just keep track of what you change so you can change it back if it breaks something.

HINT: Don't experiment on a production system.
